To measure how much sod is needed take the length, multiply that by the width and divide by 9. This equals square yardage. If you have any trouble calculating the amount of sod you need, call us and we will gladly help.
We harvest 60 conventional one yard rolls (16" wide x 81" long) per pallet. This is equivalent to 540 square feet per pallet. The sod is $1.70/yard picked up in the field. We do charge a $5/pallet deposit that is gladly refundable. If you get less than a pallet it is $2.50 per yard. If you want your sod hand loaded it is $10 per pallet. We also harvest big rolls. Each big roll is 42" wide and 77' long, thus equalling 30 square yards per roll. There are many advantages to big rolls. The first and most obvious is appearance. There are no checkerboard patterns. Seams are reduced and curved landscaping is more easily worked. The second is faster installation with less waste from trimming. With a 3 man crew you can lay 5000 square feet per hour. Once your labor is reduced your profits will increase. The third advantage is quicker playability and usage. With one large piece you have less grow in time. The final, and possibly the greatest advantage to the large rolls is that your customer satisfaction will increase. We all know that customer satisfaction sells more jobs than all of the advertising we can do added together. In addition to the big rolls we now also have a medium size roll, it is 21 inches wide and 77 feet long, thus 15 square yards. These rolls can be installed with Dingo machines or other smaller tractors. |
